How to Achieve Flawless Skin in the Months Leading Up to Your Wedding

It’s every bride’s worst nightmare: waking up to a giant zit on the morning of her wedding. No bride wants a blemish peaking out from behind her veil. While there’s a lot you can do to combat a new pimple between your makeup call-time and the moment you walk down the aisle, preventing the zit from appearing in the first place is much easier. In the months leading up to her big day, there are several things a bride can do to make sure her skin is not only breakout free, but glowing and gorgeous for her wedding.

2-3 Months Before Wedding Day

Test out any new skincare regimens, products, and practices now. Any serums, cleansers, self-tanners, waxing treatments, or face masks you’ve been wanting to try need to go through a trial run at least a few months before the wedding. This way if you have a bad reaction, you can discontinue the use of the product right away and give your skin time to recover. A bride should only be using products she trusts won’t give her skin any issues in the weeks leading up to her wedding.

1-2 Months Before Wedding Day

Schedule a facial or two with a salon you trust. Opt for an exfoliating treatment to remove any dead skin cells. This way, your face will be fresh and glowing for your wedding, and any irritation from the exfoliation will have gone away by the big day.

1 Month Before Wedding Day

Stick to your skincare routine! Now is the time to be following every step in your regimen without fail. We know with the stress of wedding planning, it’s easy to forget to cleanse your face and apply moisturizer before bed. But before you pass out on your pillow, take an extra ten minutes, now matter how tired you may be, to apply your products. If you don’t use them, they can’t do their job, and you’ll be doing yourself a disservice on your wedding day by not giving your skin what it needs to look its very best. Whatever you do, don’t sleep in your makeup.

2 Weeks Before Wedding Day

Get any waxing treatments done now so you won’t have any redness, irritation or texture come wedding day. If you’ve got a last minute facial scheduled, get it done now so your skin has time to rejuvenate and purge any impurities.

1 Week Before Wedding Day

Skip the makeup. If you let your skin breath for the next few days, you’ll lessen the chances of having any clogged pores or breakouts come day-of. Stress can also be a culprit for blemishes, so try to relax as the wedding approaches. Take a yoga class, try some mindful meditation, or go for a walk outside to clear your mind.

The Night Before the Wedding Day

Apply all of your favorite products, but don’t try anything new. You don’t want to risk a bad reaction or a breakout from a product you haven’t tried before! Be sure to get a full 8 hours of sleep. A good night’s rest will help your skin more than any moisturizer ever will.

The Morning of the Wedding Day

Congratulations! The big day is finally here! We’ve got just one final tip for brides-to-be before they sit in the makeup chair. Wet a paper towel, wring it out, and let it sit in the freezer for ten minutes. Then, drape the cold towel on your face and allow it to sit for about a minute at a time, with breaks in between if needed. The cold temperature will reduce puffiness, help with any inflammation, and tighten pores. This way, you have a perfect, smooth canvas for makeup application. Now go enjoy the day you’ve spent so much time prepping for!
