Avoid Being a Bridezilla with Daily Meditation
The question has been popped and the date has been set! As the joyous dust settles the preparations begin. Planning for your big day can be as stressful as it is exciting. Running into at least one issue or complication is inevitable and often times out of your control. However, how you handle these curve balls isn’t. You have complete control over your reactions when the venue decides to cancel or the florist is unable to get the peonies that were agreed upon. Maintaining a calm disposition is key to conquering these challenges and the best way to do this is through daily meditation.
Meditation is a powerful tool that has many uses. Harvard Medical School agrees that whether seeking to create a calm mood or to reduce depression and anxiety, meditation has proven itself to be massively beneficial. Just 10 minutes in the morning, and again at night, can change the course of your entire day.
So what might this look like? Sit or lie in a comfortable position and clear your mind. It can be helpful to put on some calming music or sounds. Focus on relaxing every muscle from your toes to the top of your head. Breathe deeply and slowly. Picture yourself in your mind as you want to be. Visualize all you want to accomplish that day and see yourself achieving each thing calmly and confidently. It can be helpful to vocalize positive affirmations. Here are a few examples:
- Today is going to be an amazing day!
- I will accomplish all I set out to do today.
- I am calm and relaxed.
- I accept challenges with confidence.
- I accomplish everything I set my mind to.
- People want to meet my needs.
- I am thankful for all I have.
- I am worthy of the very best in life.
Taking the time to set your day right, and end it right, will completely alter your emotions and reactions in the most positive way. Instead of losing your cool when faced with a challenge you can be confident and calm and find a positive solution. Not only will you avoid the Bridezilla reputation, you will find yourself having fun and enjoying the preparation stage of your wedding plans. So sit down, lie down, or squat down and breathe deep ladies!
