The Beauty Routine for People Who Hate Make-Up
We have all heard that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This does not mean that you should walk around with messed up hair, pajama bottoms, and a ripped up T-shirt. There is no beholder that is going to find that beautiful. You may be thinking that we should only be judged on what is inside. What you are not understanding is that people are judging your inside, and when you look like a hot mess the verdict is not good.
Taking pride in your appearance says more about how you feel about yourself on the inside than you might be giving it credit for. I mean, if I walk past someone in the grocery store who clearly just rolled out of bed, I am thinking that they may not have the best self esteem. Equally, if I see someone at the gym with a full face of make-up and hair styled like they are about to be a bridesmaid in a very elite wedding, I am thinking that they might be a little high maintenance. Beauty is not about layers of make-up, or no make-up at all. Instead, it is about looking good so that you can feel good. And when you feel good, you exude confidence.
So you are thinking that you do not have time to care about your appearance. You have exactly 35 minutes to get ready in the morning. Okay, fine. I get it. You are a minimalist. I am going to challenge you to add just 5 more minutes to your morning routine. I promise, it will make a big impact. You with me? Good. Below are four quick make-up habits that you can do in the morning that will make a big difference.
- Foundation. This is your canvas, and it is important. Choosing a foundation that matches your skin tone will help to diminish redness and under-eye circles.
- Bronzer or blush. You could do both, but you don’t have to. A blush that will give you a little boost, but not make you look like a clown is ideal. If you are afraid of color on your cheeks, stick with a bronzer. This will give you that summertime glow.
- Mascara. Mascara will make your eyes pop. Enough said.
- Lipstick. Choose a neutral lipstick with a little bit of shine.
Pretty simple, right? Make-up is not something to be afraid of. Think of it as a friend, not an enemy. Used correctly, it can really enhance your beauty. An added bonus is that when you feel beautiful, you will start to walk a little taller and speak a little louder. So set your alarm to go off five minutes earlier tomorrow morning. You won’t regret it.
