DIY Calming Body Butter
To make your own you will need a half cup of both coconut oil and cocoa butter as well as 1/4 cup magnesium oil and your favorite essential oil. Peppermint or lemon oil work great to make you more alert in the mornings, or you can choose soothing lavender for use at night. You will also need a double boiler and a hand mixer or whisk.
Scoop the coconut oil and cocoa butter into a double boiler over medium heat until melted. Pour in the magnesium oil and heat for a few more minutes until all three have thoroughly mixed. Set the mixture aside to cool for about 30 minutes.
Once it is a solid mass again, it’s time to make it buttery! Use your hand mixer to fluff the mixture up. Once it’s beginning to fluff, start adding in your essential oil. You only need about 10 to 15 drops of oil. Continue mixing until all oil is added and the mixture is light and fluffy.
You can store this yummy stuff for up to six months in an airtight container that is best kept in a cool, dry location. You can also make a double batch and split it in half before adding the essential oil so you can make different fragrances at one time.
