Four Tips to Make Your Hair Look Healthy (and Amazing!) on Your Wedding Day
If you have decided to grow out your hair for your big day, or if you just want an amazing looking head of hair, there are some easy things you can do to get a healthier-looking, shampoo-commercial worthy mane in as little time as possible.
Here are four basic things that you can start doing now:
1. Nutrition. What you eat and drink does affect your hair and skin. For best results when growing out your hair, eat lots of protein, leafy greens, nuts and seeds, and avoid consuming too much sugar, alcohol and caffeine as much as you can. Yes, that can be tough sometimes when planning a wedding, but even cutting back a little bit can result in improvements in your hair and skin.
2. Maintenance. Don’t wash your hair every day, as doing so can strip away oils. But, when you do wash it, use conditioner. Treat yourself to an oil treatment, such as olive oil or coconut oil, periodically, as they can do wonders with making your hair lush and soft.
3. Massage your scalp. Stimulating your hair follicles is important, plus it feels great! You can do this with just your fingers, or you can find waterproof scalp exfoliator tools to help you clean and exfoliate your scalp, promoting better circulation. Of course, a good scalp massage any time feels wonderful, but massaging your scalp in the shower will have the added benefit of helping wash away shampoo residue that may have accumulated over time.
4. Get regular trims. Yes, you need to cut your hair in order to make it longer (and healthier.) It sounds crazy, but getting regular trims will remove the split ends and will actually help your hair look healthier as you grow it out. Most stylists agree that, if you are trying to grow out your hair, a trim every 8-10 weeks is enough.
Remember that there is no magic trick that can repair years of damage, or help your hair grow, overnight, but adding these steps to your routine now should have your hair looking and feeling fantastic on your wedding day.
