Make Your Makeup Last All Through Your Big Day

Make Your Makeup Last All Through Your Big Day

No bride wants to spend hours on her wedding day makeup only to have it melt off by the time she cuts the cake. With all the hugs, kisses, and dancing she’ll be doing, she need her full face of bridal makeup to last from the moment she walks down the aisle until her send-off, without smudging, fading or flaking. Here’s how to make sure your face is flawless all day on your big day:

Exfoliate and Moisturize

A proper skincare routine is essential leading up to the wedding, because your foundation is only going to look as good as the skin underneath. Plus, foundation will last longer on healthy, smooth skin. The night before your wedding day, use a gentle facial scrub to buff away any dead skin cells, and follow it up with a moisturizer formulated for sensitive skin. This will create the perfect base for makeup to cling to.

Prep with Primer

Using a primer underneath your foundation will give the makeup something to stick to, help it to apply more evenly, and prolong the wear-time. Look for a primer that feels a little tacky when applied and blurs out any imperfections, so your foundation sits on top of it smoothly.

Use an All-Day Foundation

BB-creams, tinted moisturizers, and light-coverage foundations are great for everyday use, but for a full-glam wedding look, a full-coverage, long-wearing foundation is the way to go. Look for one that claims to last more than 12-hours. These products are specially formulated to stand up under weather conditions, hot lights, and lots of movement. No makeup budging here!

Set Liquid Products With a Powder

If you’re using a liquid foundation, concealer, cream bronzer, contour sticks or gel blush, always set them with a translucent powder after application. This will lock in the product and make it bulletproof. Skipping a setting powder and leaving liquid as-is will increase the chances of it rubbing away or breaking apart on your face.

Don’t Forget the Liner

You’ll be sipping bubbly, kissing your groom, and tasting all the delicious treats, so a fading on the lips is expected. But, if you line your lips before applying your wedding day lip color, your pout will look perfect until you have a second to run to the restroom and touch up!

Setting Spray is Your New Best Friend

Once your full-face of wedding day makeup is finished, spritz the completed masterpiece with a setting spray. This will lock everything in place, including your eyeshadow, blush, and brows. Look for one that sprays in a fine mist so everything will be evenly set. You can forget about checking your makeup all day long and focus on what’s important: the wedding.
