Looking to beautify your skin before the big day without spending a fortune on spa treatments?  Look no further than your kitchen pantry!  That’s right, you may already have some of the ingredients needed for this simple DIY Coconut Sugar Scrub.  This luxurious concoction is easy to make and will gently exfoliate and deeply moisturize, leaving your skin amazingly smooth and silky, with a lovely aroma of coconuts and vanilla!

Here’s what you need:

1 cup sugar (brown turbinado sugar is preferable for its grainy texture)

3/4 cup coconut oil (organic virgin is nice; it keeps that fresh coconut scent!)

1/2 cup canola oil, or other light oil

1/2 tsp. essential oil (available at health foods stores) or fragrance oils (try coconut and vanilla for a sweet tropical scent!)

Place coconut oil in microwaveable dish and heat for about 30 seconds until melted. Add canola oil and stir well.  Make sure the oil mixture has cooled a bit; then add the fragrance oils; blend well.  Add the sugar and keep mixing until the scrub is one consistent, grainy texture.

Pour into a clean, plastic jar with lid.  Let it settle for several hours.  As it cools, the coconut oil will harden and there will be some separation in the oils.  Give it one last stir, and it’s ready to use!

Directions for use:  While bathing, scoop out a small mound of scrub and rub it gently into your skin, using a circular motion to invigorate and exfoliate. Allow the oils to penetrate a minute before rinsing completely.  Towel dry and enjoy that deeply clean, silky skin feeling!  No extra moisturizing needed!

As an added bonus, you can make up several of these scrubs and give them to your bridesmaids as part of a pampering gift basket!  Collect clean, used plastic jars for recycling, or order jars online.  Add a ribbon or pretty length of tulle for decoration, and tuck into a basket with other favorite bath and body products.
