Why You Should Pick Up a Yoga Habit Before Your Wedding Day

Every woman knows planning a wedding is stressful. There are endless decisions like where to get married, what flowers to choose, and who to invite.

With all these decisions, no wonder bridezillas exist.

But relax, it doesn’t have to be that way. There are many habits a bride-to-be can adopt to remain calm, cool, and collected along the planning process. One of those habits is yoga.

Yoga has many physical, spiritual, and mental benefits. Here is a list of just a few benefits yoga can bring to a future wife.

Reduce stress. Getting on your yoga mat can be a huge aid to reducing stress. Tuning into your breath while matching it to your body’s movement is a great way to get out of your head, and away from any stress. Also, spending even just two minutes in savasana, the last pose in every yoga class where you get to lay back and take some “me” time, does wonders for a monkey mind.

Increase flexibility. Many brides hit the gym in preparation for the big day. Yet, it is important to not only maintain a strong body, but a flexible one. Yoga is great for increasing flexibility. Being more flexible reduces aches and pains, because who wants to feel achy on their wedding day. Plus, being extra flexile in bed will be a nice surprise for your husband on your wedding night.

Increase awareness. Awareness is being conscious of all the things happening all around you—that may be situations, reactions, or emotions. Yoga teaches you to be more aware by paying attention to your body and mind through a practice, and that same awareness can be carried into the real world. This is important for brides, because with a little awareness any stressful situation can be resolved easily.

Stay present. Since wedding planning can be so stressful, many brides can’t wait until it is all over. Yet, yoga teaches us to enjoy the present moment. So instead of wishing for the planning to be over, enjoy it! It is a once in a lifetime experience, so make it a joyful one!
